Surrogacy Law in Thailand May Change

Legislative reform for surrogacy advances in Thailand’s government as details continue to surface of two controversial, public cases surrounding commercial surrogacy.

To date Thailand has never had any laws or rulings on cases specifically regarding surrogacy and related regulations. The National Council for Peace and Order has pushed through a draft surrogacy law for Thailand .

The bill needs approval from the National Legislative Assembly and the king’s endorsement to become law. If passed, it would make commercial surrogacy in Thailand a criminal offence and provide further regulations for lawful surrogacy.
