Pattaya Bans Alcohol Sales on Beaches

According to Pattaya Mail, a ban is being implemented on alcohol sales on Pattaya and Jomtien beaches.

Vendors are also now required to wear aprons, and are prohibited from subleasing their plots on the beaches.

The Alcoholic Beverage Control Act 2008 dictates that alcohol can only be sold between the hours of 11am-2pm and 5pm-mdnight. The penalty for breaking this law is a fine of up to 4,000 baht and/or 2 years imprisonment. It’s also illegal to sell alcohol to someone who has previously been rendered unconscious from drinking.
