Koh Phangan Police Crackdown on Nitrous Oxide Balloons

Police on Koh Phangan arrested at least one man in a crackdown on illegal hostels, the Samui Times reports.

On October 6th, police arrested Wasant Damchuay, manager of Echo Beach Bar, for failing to obtain a permit for the business. He was also charged with selling medicine without permission for selling balloons filled with nitrous oxide or ‘laughing gas’ for 100 baht each.

The investigation was prompted by complaints from local residents, reporting illegal hostels, which were allegedly frequented by drug users.
