Anna Twiggs found her sister Sandra dead in her bed on Wednesday, just two days after returning home from her court hearing for family misdemeanor charges. The Judge who was on Sandra’s case had apparently, from Broward County public defendant Finklestein’s recollection, berated her in court.
Finklestein further comments that Judge Merrilee Ehrlich should be banned from the criminal court due to her inappropriate behavior towards the defendant. Sandra suffered from asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and she was in a wheelchair.

A family friend of the Twiggs said that Sandra was devastated when she got home and was “starving, dizzy and borderline breathless” due to her lack of medication while she was behind bars.
The Judge has resigned, though it is unclear when she handed in her resignation and when it will become effective.
