The National Anti-Corruption Commission along with the UN and the Phuket Governor chaired the initial Anti Corruption day in Phuket. They hope it raises awareness to the public and private sectors about the negative effects of corruption and how there will be no more tolerance for it.
The Governor comments that the corruption culture in Thailand runs strong within the political circles. The law is often exploited for monetary gains. The government has responded to this issue by amending laws to make sure corruption is avoidable at every level of government position. Government departments are following the new system where transparency is encouraged.
